FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION A GREEN CSCS CARD
A CSCS card is a mandatory requirement for anyone working on a construction site in the United Kingdom. It proves that you have the skills and knowledge necessary to work safely on a construction site.
There are two ways to get a CSCS card:
Qualification route: If you have a construction-related NVQ or SVQ level 2, an apprenticeship (such as an Employer sponsored apprenticeship, a City and Guilds of London Institute Craft Certificate or a CSCS Approved Trailblazer) or other industry-approved qualification, you can apply for a CSCS card directly.
Experienced Worker route (Wataha’s recommendation): If you do not have any qualifications, but you have at least 1 year of experience working in the construction industry, you can apply for an Experienced Worker card. To qualify for an Experienced Worker card, you will need to pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test.
The cost of a CSCS card varies depending on the route you take to apply. The cost of an Experienced Worker card is £23.00 (the CSCS card application fee) + an NVQ qualification cost (£750 + vat).
A CSCS card is valid for five years. After five years, you will need to renew your card.
