OVERVIEW –
Pathways: Painting & Decorating
The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Decorative Finishing – Painting & Decorating qualification provides a nationally recognised qualification for those working as a painter and decorator. The learner will need to demonstrate skills, knowledge and understanding of competence in a specialist subject area.
This qualification is competence-based, candidates must demonstrate the advanced level of competence described in the units. Each candidate is required to produce a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit.
CURRICULUM –
To achieve the qualification candidates must complete the SEVEN Mandatory units plus
ONE Optional Unit from Group A plus ONE Optional Unit from Group B.
- Confirming work activities and resources for an occupational work area in the workplace
- Developing and maintaining good occupational working relationships in the workplace
- Confirming the occupational method of work in the workplace
- Erecting and dismantling access/working platforms in the workplace. Unit Endorsements: The following endorsement is required (i.e. own area of work):
- Decorative finishing
- Plus two of the following endorsements required:
- Ladders/crawler boards
- Step ladders/platform steps
- Proprietary towers
- Trestle platforms
- Mobile scaffold towers
- Proprietary staging/podiums
- Preparing surfaces for painting and/or decorating in the workplace. Unit Endorsements:
The following endorsement is required (i.e. own area of work):
- Decorative finishing
- Industrial painting
- Applying surface coatings by brush and roller in the workplace Unit Endorsements:
